We love to celebrate... YOU!  It doesn't take an event as monumental as a flight test to warrant a celebration (although

those are amazing to celebrate!). If you landed for the first time by yourself ... solo flying ... if you nailed a cross country

within 2 minutes of your planned time... if you improved your "Met" section practice exam by 2% ... if you got an interview

with a company and you're looking for support.. whatever it is, let us know so we can celebrate and send encouragement!

While we continue to grow we welcome the input of all of our members. We would love to hear from you with any

suggestions you may have.

Up Coming Events:

We do our best to meet regularly the last Monday evening of each month. We occasionally get together for an in-person walkabout. Keep an eye on emails, and Facebook and Instagram posts for announcements of events. Do you have an idea for a fun activity, aviation related or just for social comradery? Let us know. We would love to hear from you!

2024 Activities - Year In Review:

 

2024 marks the 10th Anniversary of Waterloo On The Grand! Oh my how we've grown ... Happy Anniversary Chapter Members!

​

Congratulations to WOTG Member Emma Toth on being awarded the 99s First Wings Scholarship! 

​

November 27 - diversion! Due to a last minute and unexpected circumstance we were unable to have a meeting about drones so we changed plans and decided to turn the opportunity into a meeting about the Section AGM. Thanks to those who contributed your ideas!

​

October 30 - Halloween Fun Night! Thank you, again, to Erica for opening her home and hosting a fun social night!

​

Annual Meet & Greet - September 25 saw our Annual Fall event attended by many new faces and the return of known friends. Many thanks to our panel of Chapter Members who shared their experiences of being a part of the 99s. A massive thank you to Past Chair Erica for organizing this amazing event!

August 31 - Run Waterloo event - WOTG participated with a team and to say we had fun is an understatement! We had the best time walking/running Rwy 08/26 at YKF. Congrats to Chapter Members Katie, Janice, Lisa and Jackie who finished with fantastic results! Special thank you to Erica for the awesome aviation outfits! 

 

YKF Hangar Potluck - Saturday, July 21 was spent enjoying some time together at Chapter member Lisa's hangar ... Thank you Lisa for being a fantastic host!

 

Thank you to Nicky and the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region for the presentation on Human Trafficking held June 25th. It was a very informative presentation and members were happy to make donations.

 

Girls CAN Fly! ~ on Saturday, May 25 we participated in the success of the annual Girls Can Fly event held by Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre. Thank you all who were able to give your time for this fantastic event.

​

On April 13th members enjoyed a talk from 99s Member Deb Edwards on her work with Mission Aviation Fellowship. Thank you Deb for an inspiring and interesting presentation. We also did our planning for the Girls Can Fly event to be held in May. We just know that once again we will have a great exhibit table to engage future aviators! 

​

Thank you to Chapter members and WWFC Instructors Alysha and Tiffany for hosting a Study Session at the Flight Centre on March 28th. 

 

On February 25, 2024 we held our Annual General Meeting. Interim Chair, Ashley, was voted in as the permanent Chair of WOTG ... Congratulations Ashley! Chapter members had the incredible opportunity to meet and talk with 99s Life-Time Member Judith Anne Johnson who shared amazing tales of her personal and aviation stories - can we take a moment to think about flying in heels! We also had a super interesting and fun tour of the YKF Control Tower. Thank you to Supervisor/Unit Operations Specialist Melissa Swain and her team for sharing your time and answering our many questions!  

 

YYZ Area Control and Tower Tour! WOW! Members of the Chapter enjoyed an incredible tour on January 20, 2024. We are very thankful to Natalie of NAV Canada for arranging the tour, to Martin of NAV Canada for hosting, and to the NAV Canada controllers for spending time with us and indulging our excitement!
